Cobra Commander Cosplay Strikes Hard With Help From Reynolds – Allentown

Published

Ray Lopez, a desktop publisher and video editor, has always wanted to cosplay the famous Cobra Commander, from G.I. Joe. Being new to the cosplaying scene, Ray had to call for backup by contacting Reynolds – Allentown. “I had no molding, casting, or even any costuming experience before this project.” Ray said in a follow up conversation with the Reynolds staff.

Ray, after contacting the Reynolds staff, watched continuous YouTube videos on the moldmaking and casting process. Team member Amy worked with Ray one on one throughout his process: providing him with the technical knowledge to pull off the actual look and feel he was going for. Ray used an array of Smooth-On materials for his costume. He used Mold Star 30 platinum-cure silicone and Task 14 urethane resin to create his dagger. He also used OOMOO 30 tin-cure silicone, and Smooth-Cast 325 urethane resin to create his cape pins and belt accessories. With a few tips and tricks, Ray was able to get the Cobra Commander to come alive.
